AEO and GEO consultant for small business.
An AEO/GEO consultant works out why AI answer engines do not name your business, then fixes the cause. Mindstorm Labs, led by Jeffrey Jenson (AI Systems Engineer), checks four stages in order (eligibility, retrieval, extraction, synthesis), fixes the first one that fails, and re-measures with a fixed set of prompts. Based in Cedar City, Utah, serving Southern Utah, Salt Lake City, Provo and Ogden, and clients across the United States remotely.
What does an AEO/GEO consultant actually do?
AEO (answer engine optimization) and GEO (generative engine optimization) are industry terms for making a business easy for AI search to find, quote and trust. Google's own guidance treats optimizing for generative AI search as part of SEO and asks for no special files or markup, so we focus on the fundamentals and test everything else before we recommend it.
The work is a loop: measure how AI engines answer questions your customers ask, find the stage where you drop out, fix that stage, and measure again.
What are the four stages we diagnose?
| Stage | Question | What we check or fix |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Eligibility | Can AI crawlers fetch and read your pages? | robots rules, crawler access, rendering, indexing, status codes |
| 2. Retrieval | Is a page of yours a candidate for the question? | Pages that match the real questions and sub-questions customers ask |
| 3. Extraction | Can a passage answer it on its own? | Answer-first passages, entity clarity, structured data that matches the page |
| 4. Synthesis | Do independent sources confirm who you are? | Consistent name, address and phone, directory and third-party mentions, one entity across profiles |
The four-stage model is Mindstorm's working framework, not a description of any vendor's system. Read the full guide.
What do you get?
- An AI crawler access audit: whether GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended and others can reach your content.
- A baseline prompt panel: a fixed list of questions your customers ask, run several times on the AI engines they use, with citation and mention rates and a noise range.
- Structured data: schema that matches what is visible on each page and ties your business and people together as one entity.
- Entity and directory alignment: your business name, address and phone, categories and profiles made consistent across Google, Bing, Apple and the directories that matter.
- Answer-first content: your existing service copy restructured so each question has a direct, quotable answer.
- Re-measurement: the same prompt panel again after changes, reported with its range, so you see what actually moved.
Who is this for, and who is it not for?
It fits small and mid-sized local-service and professional businesses that already do good work, depend on being found, and want a measured approach. That includes businesses in Cedar City, Saint George, Washington, Hurricane and Ivins, in Salt Lake City, Provo and Ogden, and remote clients across the United States.
It does not fit anyone looking for a guaranteed ranking or a guaranteed AI citation. Nobody can promise either, and we do not. It is also not a fit if the business does not yet have a website that can be crawled.
Businesses blocked from paid ad platforms have a dedicated page: GEO/AEO for businesses restricted from ads.
How do we measure our own site?
We use the same method on ourselves. On October 13, 2026 we ran 19 prompts three times each (57 runs) on Gemini with Google Search grounding. Our domain was cited in 11 of 12 branded runs and in none of the 45 unbranded local and national runs. We read that as a starting line, not a finding: it is one engine, one date and an uncontrolled comparison. We publish the method and will re-run it monthly.
We also ran an open study of 300 local-service queries on the same engine. Read the AI Visibility Index, with data and code on GitHub.
What can I do for free first?
- AI Bot Access Checker: can ChatGPT and other AI crawlers read your site?
- AI Readiness Scanner: will AI cite your page?
- JSON-LD Schema Builder and NAP Consistency Checker.
- Find The Questions: what your customers actually ask.
- Unlinked Mention Finder: who names you without linking.

How much does it cost?
Mindstorm Labs publishes price ranges for its services: see services and pricing and, for businesses restricted from ad platforms, the GEO/AEO packages on /geo. Final scope depends on your site, your market and how many locations you have, so send an inquiry and we will confirm what applies to you.
How long does it take to see a change?
Fixes to access and structure can be made quickly, but search engines and AI systems recrawl on their own schedule and third-party mentions take longer. We re-measure on a fixed schedule instead of promising a timeline.
Do you work with businesses outside Utah?
Yes. Utah is home turf, but the work is done remotely and we meet by video, so we work with businesses across the United States. Jeffrey serves Southern Utah in person where that helps.
