Two phone numbers, three pages apart. A suite number that only exists in your schema. An old address still sitting on one service page after you moved. Search engines read all of it, and every contradiction chips away at their confidence that you are one real business.
A NAP consistency checker compares the name, address and phone number a website states in its copy, links and structured data, and flags contradictions. Mindstorm Labs' NAP Consistency Checker scans one website, not directories such as Yelp. It normalizes phone and address formats so only genuine differences are reported, and it also flags schema that disagrees with the visible text. It does not check third-party listings.
We normalise every format — (435) 531-4126, 435.531.4126, +1-435-531-4126 all collapse to one value — so we only flag genuinely different numbers, not different punctuation. We report the formatting variation separately as its own low-severity note.
We also check whether any number is a tel: link. On a phone, the highest-intent action on a local site should be one tap.
"123 North Main Street" and "123 N Main St." are the same address and we treat them as one. A different street number is a different address and gets flagged. A missing suite number is reported as its own finding rather than counted as a second location — that distinction is the whole difficulty of address matching, and getting it wrong is why naive tools report false conflicts.
The check nobody runs. Your JSON-LD says Suite 200; your contact page doesn't mention a suite. Your schema lists a phone that appears nowhere in the copy. Google treats markup that contradicts visible content as a quality problem, so a mismatch costs you the rich result rather than earning it.
"Acme Roofing" vs "Acme Roofing LLC" is usually tolerated. A genuinely different trading name splits your entity across two identities. We ignore legal suffixes when comparing, and we filter out taglines — a real business name recurs across pages or appears in your schema; "Dominate AI Search" appears once, in one title, and is not a name.
Fix contradictions at the source: pick the one correct name, address and phone, then update every page and the structured data to match. After that, the Unlinked Mention Finder shows where other sites already name your business without linking, which is the next consistency job, and the Schema Builder can regenerate matching markup. We include this in our local AEO and GEO work. If you serve a local area, the Review Deficit Calculator shows how many reviews separate you from a competitor.
